Amber Valletta is one of the original supermodels, sweeping in and taking over in the mid-nineties alongside Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford and Shalom Harlow. At 17-years-old, Amber scored her first editorial shoot for American Vogue; however, she was sidelined by the news she would play second fiddle in the spread. Legendary photographer, Arthur Elgort, promised to shoot beauty on Amber in what ultimately led to her first-ever Vogue cover. Since then, the Oklahoma born model has appeared on 19 international covers of Vogue – putting her among the models holding the most Vogue covers in history – and has never stopped working. Her 30-year tenure as a fashion icon has also expanded beyond fashion into acting and activism.
Amber has graced the covers of countless publications shot by the best photographers in the industry. In addition to her impressive Vogue cache, Amber has also been on numerous covers of V, Lui, Interview, Allure, Elle, i-D and Love magazines. She has worked with iconic stylists including Edward Enninful and Brana Wolf as well as photographers like Steven Miesel and Inez & Vinoodh. She credits Gianni Versace as the first designer to truly believe in her, and recently closed the fall/winter 2017 show right before the 20th anniversary of the designer's untimely death.
Among her most notable achievements, Amber served as the face of Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein and Versace as well as multiple Prada campaigns. Most recently, she starred in L’Oréal’s Skin Expert campaign as well as campaigns for Theory, John Galliano, Oliver Peoples, Mango and The Outnet.
A Midwestern girl through and through, Amber says she's at her happiest when in nature and has worked hard to protect it. Activism runs in her blood (her mother was once arrested during a protest against a nuclear power plant), and it shows. She co-founded A Squared Films, whose first project, Driving Fashion Forward, featured a series of documentary shorts on the subject of fashion and sustainability. She is also a current ambassador for the Sierra Club, an environmental conservation effort to protect wildlife and curb climate change. In early 2017, Amber traveled to Copenhagen where she served as a host of the annual Copenhagen Fashion Summit, a sustainability-focused conference pushing actionable environmental agendas in fashion.
“Growing up, all of my enjoyment and entertainment came from being in the natural world,” she explains. “It only makes sense, especially with a child of my own now, to do what I can to protect our world.” Doing what she can sparked an entrepreneurial spirit within Amber, and eventually led to the launch of Master & Muse. In partnership with Yoox.com, Master & Muse by Amber Valletta is the premier online store, offering stylish, cutting-edge fashion, created and produced by some of the most socially responsible designers working today.
After moving to Los Angeles, Amber found success as an actress and has transitioned seamlessly between modeling and acting over the last 10 years. Her screen credits include a starring role in “Hitch”, “What Lies Beneath”, and “The Spy Next Door”, along with television roles on ABC’s hit show, “Revenge” and TNT’s “Legends” opposite Sean Bean. Now, the California transplant has dove back into fashion and is working on a sustainability project that she promises will be, "cool, sexy and fun."
