Amber Valletta is one of the original supermodels, sweeping in and taking over in the mid-nineties alongside Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Linda Evangelista and Shalom Harlow. At 18-years-old, Amber scored her first American Vogue cover with legendary photographer, Arthur Elgort. Since then, the Oklahoma native has appeared on countless international covers of Vogue – putting her among the models holding the most Vogue covers in history – and has never stopped working. In addition to her impressive Vogue cache, Amber has also been on numerous covers of V, Harper’s Bazaar, W, Interview, Time, Allure, Elle, i-D and Love magazines with some of the most well known photographers in fashion. Among her most notable achievements, Amber served as the face of Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, Loewe, David Yurman, Gucci, Georgio Armani as well as multiple Prada and Versace campaigns. Most recently, she starred in L’Oréal’s Skin Expert campaign as well as campaigns for Theory, John Galliano, Oliver Peoples, Mango and YSL. Her 30-year tenure as a fashion icon has also expanded beyond fashion into acting and activism.
A Midwestern girl through and through, Amber says she's at her happiest when in nature and has worked hard to protect it. Activism runs in her blood. Her mother fought and helped stop the building of a nuclear power plant near their hometown of Tulsa. The passion and activism Amber’s mother shared engrained and set of values in her and it has proven to be a guide by which she lives her life. She co-founded A Squared Films, whose first project, Driving Fashion Forward, featured a series of documentary shorts on the subject of fashion and sustainability. She is also a current ambassador for the Sierra Club, an environmental conservation effort to protect wildlife and curb climate change. Since 2016 and every year proceeding, Amber traveled to Copenhagen where she served as a host of the annual Copenhagen Fashion Summit, a sustainability-focused conference pushing actionable environmental agendas in fashion. Amber has spoken on numerous panels on the importance of changing the way fashion is made and produced. Her deep belief that fashion can truly be a force for good in the world -by becoming more sustainable throughout the entire supply chain.
“Growing up, all of my enjoyment and entertainment came from being in the natural world,” she explains. “It only makes sense, especially with a child of my own now, to do what I can to protect our world.” Doing what she can sparked an entrepreneurial spirit within Amber, and eventually led to the launch of Master & Muse in 2013-2016. A partnership with Yoox.com, Master & Muse by Amber Valletta was the premier online store, offering stylish, cutting-edge fashion, created and produced by some of the most socially responsible designers working.
After moving to Los Angeles, Amber found success as an actress and has transitioned seamlessly between modeling and acting over the last 20 years. Her screen credits include a starring role in “Hitch”, “What Lies Beneath”, and “The Spy Next Door”, along with television roles on ABC’s hit show, “Revenge” and TNT’s “Legends” opposite Sean Bean. Now, the California transplant has dove back into fashion and is working on a sustainability project that she promises will be, “educational, entertaining and timely."
