"You guys are going to see me either live under a bridge or make it." Those are the words Austin spoke to the camera in his inaugural vlog that kick-started what has become a wildly popular YouTube channel with over 350 thousand subscribers. The professional BMX rider and model had just completed his first modeling gig at the time and was on his way to New York City, determined to make good on his promises of success. He's not living under a bridge, for the record, but has had to cross quite a few before winding up among IMG's heavy hitters.
Austin "Augie" Auginbaugh (say that fives times fast) never considered himself a "normal" kid growing up. Born in small-town Indiana, he often felt like a fish out of water in the Orthodox Christian town of Convers. The Midwesterner admits school was never really his forte, but what he lacked in enthusiasm for textbooks he made up for in natural skill on a BMX bike. Austin took to the pedals immediately and started building his set of tricks. After graduating from high school, Austin moved around working odd jobs until he found himself winning first place at the Chicago Series BMX competition. Following his victory, he moved to Cali and began making a name for himself on the scene.
Once in Cali, Augie secured an agent as well as his first modeling job. Those initial successes propelled him towards New York where he now continues to execute the most difficult tricks, go on spontaneous adventures, and now, model full time.
