Fashion designers Tom Ford and Karl Lagerfeld both consider Kortajarena a muse. Lagerfeld often uses the male supermodel in his shows for Chanel, as do Valentino, and Giorgio Armani, and Ford cast him a several advertising campaigns (for nine consecutive seasons to be exact!) for his eponymous luxury brand, photographed by Terry Richardson. Ford also created a significant co-starring role for Kortajarena, opposite Academy Award-winning actors Colin Firth and Julianne Moore, in the designer-filmmaker's 2009 directorial debut, an adaptation of Christopher Isherwood's A Single Man.
Kortajarena has a knack for appearing alongside powerful women. He starred in Madonna's highly controversial ‘Girl Gone Wild’ music video, as well as in campaigns for David Yurman with Kate Moss, and Seven For All Mankind with Miranda Kerr.
