Kiev, Ukraine native Milla Jovovich is perhaps best known as a muse to legendary photographer Peter Lindberg, and as the leading actress in the Resident Evil blockbuster franchise series. She has also received acclaim for her work in Zoolander, opposite Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Will Ferrell, and in The Fifth Element, as well as her very first film, Return to the Blue Lagoon.
Milla was born to a Serbian pediatrician and a renowned Russian actress. Her family moved to the U.S. in 1981 and she began her remarkable modeling career at age nine. At age twelve, Richard Avedon photographed young Milla as one of Revlon’s “Most Unforgettable Women in the World." Shortly thereafter, she appeared on multiple covers of Lei magazine, edited by the current Vogue Italia Editor in Chief, Franca Sozzani.
Over the years, Milla has starred in advertising campaigns for Chanel, Dior, Versace, and Isabel Marant, and walked in runway shows for Prada, Marc Jacobs, and Jil Sander, among others. Additional print promotions include Tiffany & Co., Etro, Gap, Marella, Escada, and multiple Donna Karan lines, including DKNY. She also served as an ambassador for L’Oreal for several years, and appeared in the annual Pirelli calendar, a major coup for any model.
Perhaps most significantly, Milla has since appeared on over one hundred international magazine covers. In addition to an eclectic and impressive array of acting roles, including Chaplin alongside Robert Downey, Jr., Milla is also an accomplished singer and songwriter. She released her first EP, “The Divine Comedy,” in 1994, and debuted “Electric Sky” at Life Ball, the AIDS Charity Gala.
